About

An engineer by training, a product manager by trade

IE DIGITAL is a consulting and digital product design company, registered with the RCS (Trade and Companies Register) of Lille Métropole since 2016. One person, not an organisation: the person who answers you is the person who does the work.

I am a software engineer by training. I started out at IT services firms, on projects for large corporate clients. Today I work on long-term assignments, embedded in a retailer's own teams — where you don't deliver a project and leave, but look after a product over time and live with the consequences of your trade-offs.

It is also how I work best: within the team, on one area, with the same metrics as the people I report to. Not from above, not on a fixed-price basis.

Today, my work is designing digital products: deciding what to build, in what order, and why. Engineering remains the foundation — it lets me make trade-offs with a development team rather than just hand it a request.

Sectors

Specialist and DIY retail, automotive equipment, specialist finance, general e-commerce, at scales ranging from national networks to international groups. What they share: high-volume purchase journeys, where a design detail translates directly into orders won or lost.

Assignments are covered by confidentiality agreements. Names and figures are discussed in a meeting, not on a public page.

Way of working

Product first, method second. Scrum, Kanban and OKRs are tools: they serve to set a pace, make things visible and align people, not to create the illusion of progress. I use them where they add something, and I say so when they don't.

The principle that holds it all together: the customer experience drives the design, not the other way round. A journey is not drawn from the company's org chart or from back-office constraints — it is drawn from what the person trying to buy goes through, and everything else adapts to it.

Personal work

I design and develop my own apps. It keeps me current on building, not just on specifying: once you have shipped an app end to end yourself, you judge differently what you ask of a team.
