Forge Yourself

Privacy policy

This is an English translation provided for convenience. The French version is the reference text.

Forge Yourself, iOS app and web app · version of 6 October 2026

In short: we do not receive any of your training or health data. There is no account, no Forge server, no advertising and no trackers. What you enter is processed by the app on your device. When iCloud sync arrives (next version), if you are a subscriber and you use it, a copy of your programme and sessions will go to your iCloud space, which we cannot access. Your body measurements, data from the Health app, your meal log and its photos are never copied by Forge, neither to iCloud nor anywhere else.

Who publishes the app

IE DIGITAL, a single-shareholder SARL (French limited liability company) registered with the Lille Métropole Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number 822 744 116, with its registered office at 31 rue du Président Kennedy, 59237 Verlinghem, France. For any question about this page or your data: contact@iedigital.fr. This is also the address of the person in charge of the protection of personal information (the manager of IE DIGITAL), for residents of Quebec.

What the app processes, and where

  • Your programme, sessions, loads and notes: stored in the app’s storage, on your device.
  • Your weight, height, age and body measurements: same place. They are used to draw your progress chart and, from age 18, to calculate general nutrition guidelines. They are not shared with anyone, including us.
  • In the web app, everything is kept in your browser’s storage. Clearing the site’s data erases it. The web app does not sync with iCloud.

We do not have access to this data: we cannot read, correct or delete it on your behalf. You manage it yourself in the app; Profile › Data › Delete this profile erases the profile and its entire history, on the device and, while sync is active, in your iCloud copy. Deleting the app erases its data from the device, but not your iCloud copy (see below).

iCloud sync (iPhone, subscribers)

This feature is coming in a future version of the app. Until then, nothing goes to iCloud. Once available: with an active subscription and an iCloud account on your iPhone, Forge copies your profiles — programme, sessions, loads, notes, medals and settings — to the private database that your iCloud account reserves for the app. This is what lets you find them again on another iPhone.

  • What never goes there: your weight, height, age and body measurements, whether they come from Forge or from the Health app; your meal log and its photos; the session in progress. This data stays on the iPhone where you entered it.
  • Who has access: you, through your Apple Account. This copy is stored by Apple, within your iCloud storage, under the iCloud terms you have accepted. It does not pass through any IE DIGITAL server, and we cannot view it.
  • Without an iCloud account, or without a subscription, nothing is sent: your data stays on the iPhone.
  • Not to be confused with your iPhone backup (in iCloud or on a computer), which is managed by iOS, not by Forge: as with any app, it contains the Forge data present on the device, except meal log photos.
  • To stop: turn off Forge in Settings › your name › iCloud. If your subscription ends, sync stops; the copy already made stays in your iCloud until you erase it.
  • To erase your iCloud copy: delete your profiles in Forge while sync is active, or erase Forge’s data in Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage.

The meal log (iPhone, optional)

The meal log only opens with your explicit consent. For each meal, it keeps its composition, a plate size and, if you wish, a photo. The photo is taken with the iPhone camera, analysed on your iPhone to suggest a composition that you confirm yourself, reduced in size, then deleted after 7 days. The log and its photos stay on your iPhone: Forge does not copy them to iCloud or to us, and the photos are excluded from iPhone backups. The relevance indicator is off by default; when turned on, it is calculated on the iPhone. Erase all deletes the meals and photos; withdrawing your consent erases the entire log.

The Health app (iPhone, optional)

If you turn on Profile › Data › Health, Forge first explains what it reads, then iOS lets you choose item by item. Forge reads from the Health app your weight and height, to fill in your progress chart and guidelines without entering them twice, and your step count, to show your daily average in the Progress tab. On the iPhone, Forge writes nothing to Health.

Apple Watch (optional). If you agree when starting a session on the watch, Forge saves to Health each session started on your Apple Watch, as a strength-training workout: its duration, and the active energy and heart rate measured by the watch. During the session, the watch also reads your heart rate and active energy to display them to you. This data stays in Health, on your devices: it is never sent to us, never used for advertising and never shared with a third party. You can decline, remove access at any time in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Forge, and delete these workouts in the Health app.

Data read from Health stays on your iPhone: it does not go to iCloud, to the file backup, or to us. It is never used for advertising and never shared with a third party. You can remove access at any time in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Forge.

File backup

Profile › Data › Back up this profile creates a file that you can keep wherever you like (Files, iCloud Drive, email…). It contains your profile, including the body measurements you entered, but nothing that comes from Health. Forge does not send it anywhere: you choose its destination, and the service you choose then applies its own rules. This file also lets you retrieve your data in a readable format and take it elsewhere.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple, which is responsible for them. We do not receive your name, your address or your payment details. The app checks the receipt signed by Apple on your device to know which features to unlock. Management and cancellation are done in your Apple Account settings.

Review requests

From time to time, after a session, Forge may display the App Store review prompt. This is an Apple prompt: iOS decides whether it appears and limits how often, and what you answer goes to Apple, not to us. To choose the moment, the app only uses data that stays on your iPhone (number of sessions, personal records, date of the last renewal). If you post a review, Apple displays it on the App Store under your nickname, according to its own rules; we may reply publicly.

Notifications

The rest timer can send you notifications and appear on the Lock Screen, if you allow it. They are created by the app on your iPhone; no server sends them.

Statistics

Forge does not include any audience measurement tool. Apple provides us, in its developer portal, with aggregated statistics: installations, crashes, subscriptions. Usage figures and crash reports only come from people who have agreed, in their iPhone settings, to share their analytics data with developers; they do not allow us to identify you. The web app measures nothing.

Hosting of the web app and this page

The web app and this page are hosted by GitHub (GitHub, Inc., a Microsoft subsidiary, United States). Like any hosting provider, GitHub may record technical connection data, including your IP address, for the security of its service. We do not have access to it. See GitHub’s privacy statement.

If you contact us

If you write to us at contact@iedigital.fr, we use your address and the content of your message to reply to you, and only for that purpose. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us or, if you are a customer, the performance of our obligations to you. Only the manager of IE DIGITAL and our email service provider, which hosts it on our behalf, have access to it. We keep these messages for as long as it takes to handle your request, then for no more than three years after our last exchange. Please do not include health data: we do not need it.

How long

  • On your device: until you delete the profile, the site data or the app.
  • In your iCloud (programme and sessions): until you delete the profile or erase Forge’s data in iCloud.
  • Meal log photos: 7 days, on the iPhone.
  • Your messages: no more than three years after our last exchange.

Minors

Your age is self-declared and is not verified. Under 18, Forge does not display calorie or macronutrient guidelines.

Your rights

For data processed on your device or copied to your iCloud, you exercise your rights yourself in the app: view, edit, export (Profile › Data › Back up this profile), delete. For anything that goes through Apple (purchases, iCloud, reviews), you exercise your rights with Apple. For the messages you have sent us, you can ask us for access, rectification, erasure or restriction, object to their processing, or give us instructions on what should happen to them after your death, at contact@iedigital.fr. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr), or with the data protection authority of your country.

Changes

If the way the app works changes, this page is updated before the relevant version of the app, and the date at the top of the page changes. Any change that sends new data off your device will be announced to you in the app.
