Essor, iOS app · version of 3 October 2026

In short. Essor has no account, no server, no audience measurement tool and no advertising. Your data is stored on your iPhone, encrypted and excluded from iCloud backup. IE DIGITAL, the publisher, does not receive any of your data and cannot access it. Some iOS features that you turn on (widgets, Live Activities, Siri, Reminders, sharing) display or transmit information through Apple or to the destination you choose: they are described in section 6. You can export or erase all your Essor data at any time, from within the app.

1. Who is responsible

The controller is IE DIGITAL, a single-shareholder SARL (French limited liability company) registered with the Lille Métropole Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number 822 744 116, with its registered office at 31 rue du Président Kennedy, 59237 Verlinghem, France. Publication director: Alexandre Elard, manager. Contact: contact@iedigital.fr. IE DIGITAL has not appointed a data protection officer; for any question about your data, write to this address.

2. The data used by Essor

  • Year of birth, goals: to tailor the actions and check that you are 18 or over. On the iPhone.
  • Optional profile (sex, pregnancy, diabetes): to leave out unsuitable actions or recipes. On the iPhone.
  • Apple Health data, read-only (steps, exercise minutes, sleep duration, bedtime, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, VO2 max): to calculate the Essor Index and Habit Age, and display your averages. Read from Apple Health, processed on the iPhone.
  • Completed actions, no-pressure day: to track your habits. On the iPhone.
  • Meal log, fridge contents, cooking preferences: to suggest recipes and the shopping list. On the iPhone.
  • Imported blood test reports (PDF) and the values you have checked: to display your results as printed, and prepare “For my appointment”. On the iPhone, in a separate space.
  • Record of your consents: to evidence your choices and allow you to withdraw them. On the iPhone.
  • Reminder settings: to send the notifications you have chosen. On the iPhone.
  • Summary for widgets (today’s actions, dinner, Essor Index; never any blood test data): to display the widgets. On the iPhone, in a space shared between the app and its widgets.

Essor does not ask for your name, email address or phone number.

3. Legal bases

  • Health data (Apple Health, optional profile, blood test reports): your explicit consent (Articles 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a) GDPR), requested separately for Apple Health and for blood test reports. You can withdraw it at any time in Profile › Privacy, without affecting processing carried out before the withdrawal.
  • Operation of the app, reminders and notifications, widgets, Live Activities, Siri, shopping list: performance of the service you use (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Notifications, access to Reminders and Siri also require your permission in iOS.
  • Reading the configuration file (section 6): IE DIGITAL’s legitimate interest in being able to remotely disable a faulty feature (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Email exchanges with IE DIGITAL: legitimate interest in replying to you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Apple Health

Essor only reads the data listed in section 2 and writes nothing to Apple Health. You choose each category on the iOS permission screen and can change this choice in Settings › Health › Data Access. This data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold or disclosed to a third party.

5. Blood test reports

The PDFs you import stay on your iPhone, in a separate space. You check each value before it is saved. Essor displays the values as printed; it does not interpret your results and does not make any diagnosis.

“For my appointment” generates on the iPhone a PDF that you must review before exporting. It contains the values copied from your report, the name of the laboratory and, in a separate section, your averages for sleep, steps and activity minutes, and the actions completed. It contains neither the Essor Index nor Habit Age. It is created in a protected temporary folder of the app, then deleted after sharing.

Your blood test reports are never used by any artificial intelligence feature.

6. What can leave the app

IE DIGITAL receives nothing. The flows below only exist if you use the feature concerned.

  • Configuration file. At launch, Essor downloads the file iedigital.fr/essor/flags.json to find out whether a feature should be disabled. None of your data is sent. As with any internet connection, your IP address is transmitted to the hosting provider, GitHub, Inc. (United States), which may keep it in its technical logs.
  • Purchases. Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. IE DIGITAL receives neither your identity nor your payment details, only non-identifying sales statistics.
  • Widgets and Live Activities. The Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show today’s actions, tonight’s dinner and, if you add it, the Essor Index. On the Lock Screen, the content stays generic; the “Neutral text” option replaces the action’s title with “Your action for today”. The cooking timer shows the recipe name, the step and the remaining time on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Depending on your iOS settings, the timer may also appear on your Apple Watch. These items can be read by anyone who sees the screen.
  • Siri and Shortcuts. Essor actions run on the iPhone; those that read or change your data require the device to be unlocked. Your voice request is processed by Apple under its own privacy rules.
  • Shopping list (Reminders). If you allow it, Essor adds missing ingredients to the Reminders app, in the “Courses” (shopping) list or in your default list. iOS only grants full access to Reminders, but Essor does not read any other reminder. Depending on your settings, Apple may sync your Reminders via iCloud; this sync does not depend on Essor.
  • Sharing. The “For my appointment” PDF, the “Sunday recap” card (completed actions and recipe names, never the index, sleep or blood test data) and the encrypted export only leave the app if you share them yourself using the iOS share sheet. Once shared, they are subject to the service you have chosen. No reward is linked to sharing.
  • Links to sources. When you open a link, the website you visit receives your IP address under its own policy.

7. Artificial intelligence

Essor does not use any artificial intelligence service, and none of your data is sent to such a service. This policy will be updated before any change on this point.

8. Audience measurement, advertising, trackers

Essor contains no audience measurement tool, no advertising, no trackers and no third-party data collection kit. If you have agreed in iOS to share your analytics with developers, Apple may send IE DIGITAL crash reports and non-identifying statistics; you can change this choice in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Consumer Health Data. IE DIGITAL does not sell consumer health data, including within the meaning of Washington's My Health My Data Act (RCW 19.373) and similar U.S. state laws.

9. Security and backup

Essor data benefits from iOS Complete Protection: it is encrypted and unreadable while the iPhone is locked, and excluded from iCloud backup. The summary for widgets is readable after the first unlock following the iPhone’s startup, which is necessary for the widgets to display; it contains no blood test data and is also excluded from iCloud backup. As a result, if you lose or change your iPhone without having made an export, your data is lost.

10. Export, import, erasure

  • Export: all your data in a .essor file encrypted (AES-256) with a passphrase you choose. IE DIGITAL does not know this passphrase and cannot recover it.
  • Import: the .essor file can be imported back into Essor.
  • Erasure: “Erase all” deletes all Essor data on the iPhone; uninstalling the app has the same effect. What remains: Apple Health data (Essor writes nothing to it), ingredients added to Reminders, and files you have shared or exported, which you can delete from the apps concerned.

11. Retention period

  • Essor data is kept on your iPhone until you erase it or uninstall the app.
  • The “For my appointment” PDF is deleted from the temporary folder after sharing.
  • The widget summary is replaced at each update; the Live Activity ends when the timer ends.
  • Emails exchanged with IE DIGITAL are kept for no more than 3 years after the last exchange.

12. Reminders and notifications

If you allow them, Essor sends notifications generated on the iPhone, without going through a server: no more than two per day (“Your actions for today are ready”, “A dinner idea is waiting for you”); on Sundays at 6 pm (“Your French-style week is ready”); during the trial, a reminder 2 days before it ends. You can turn them off one by one in Essor, or all at once in Settings › Notifications.

13. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, as well as the right to withdraw your consent. You can also set instructions regarding what happens to your data after your death. As IE DIGITAL does not hold any of your Essor data, you exercise most of these rights directly in the app: Profile › Privacy, export, “Erase all”. For any other request, write to contact@iedigital.fr; you will receive a reply within one month.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (French data protection authority), 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France (www.cnil.fr).

14. Automated decision-making

The Essor Index and Habit Age are calculations made on your iPhone based on your habits (see the method). They do not lead to any decision producing legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affecting you, within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR. They reflect your habits, not your health.

15. Transfers outside the European Union

IE DIGITAL does not transfer any of your Essor data. Only the IP address used to download the configuration file (section 6) is received by GitHub, Inc., in the United States, which participates in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Apple services (purchases, Siri, iCloud, Reminders) are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

16. Minimum age

Essor is for people aged 18 or over only.

17. Changes to this policy

You will be informed in the app of any significant change before it applies. The version date appears at the top of this page.
